Description Uganda, Semuliki Forest Direct Trade — 2023 Organic Using Organic, Direct Trade Trinitario and Amelonado type cacao beans from the Rwenzururu Semuliki Forest region of Uganda. Wet cacao is purchased from over 500 small hold farmers, each with 1-2 hectares of cacao trees. In the afternoon of harvest day staff collect cacao from the farmers and pay the farmers cash on the spot. Tasting Notes: Earthy notes of coffee and caramel to start, eventually building into bright berries flavors. Whisky flavor holds off until the end but then coat your palate like a fine after dinner bourbon. Pleasant balanced bitter smoothness with an absence of astringency. Lively, appealing acidity rounds it all out.
